Banner in the Sky
I love the way the author explains the scenery in the book. He explains how they had to get to the top of the mountain. He explains the ice on the rocks. He uses scenery to carry the story along. When the boy was near the top he had to climb through a wet dark tunnel and the author explains how he does it. He uses imagery in the book. When you picture the Citadel that he climbed you can see it. I can see the mountain in the sky going up above the clouds and having snow and ice on the peaks. I also love the way the author explains the story. He does not just tell you what is the character doing and thinking but also what the other characters are thinking. He also gives the characters one goal. Rudi’s goal was to get to the summit and put a banner up and his uncles was to help Rudi do it safely. I also love the way the author uses quotations. He does not put a sentence and keep explaining it for a paragraph but is mostly focusing on the character and setting. He tells you what the character said. I hate the way the author made Rudi’s life. He made Rudi’s life depressing. The author used this to keep Rudi motivated to finish what he had started but he could have done it differently. The author also had many themes in his book. He showed that if we do not give up we can succeed and this is true in life. I love the way the author used this theme.

After 1 year that the silver knight has had his kingdom back he got married to a beautiful women one year younger then him. She was perfect with gardening in the castles courtyard and garden.They lived a few lives together. Then they had a son. He was very feisty so the silver knight new when he would die his son would be a wonderful and brave king no matter what he fought. They raised him very well and soon he was older and strong. Later a war came and the silver knight went to fight. His son and wife were worried about his safety. While his mother wasn't looking her son ran off. He went to help his father. He put on his father's old knight outfit and took off. His mother looked everywhere for him. He met up with his dad in the war. His dad was not happy. Then enemy Knights came and the silver knights son forgot his weapon at the castle. The silver knight gave him a spear, then they were separated in the fight. The silver knight struck down every single enemy until he saw the worst site he's ever seen. For his son was struck down dead. The silver knight fell to his knees saying he will get them back.... all of them. He secretly went into the city to burn it. Lots of adults and children screaming in death. He escaped fast then took his child's body home and told his wife what happened. She cried allot and just prayed to the Lord for another special son.

Dear Scott,
I have heard about all the troubles you have had playing the game of football. I understand that Jimmy and all the other players on the team (besides Chris) have been mean and are picking on you since you are not supposedly as good as them. The fact is that every body goes through hard times and you have to fight till the end. Like Chris said,” we have to finish what we started.” Chris is your only friend and you don’t want to loose his because you want to quit. I have been in the same position as you. I wasn’t the best and I was short like you. I know exactly what its like to be in your problem. What I’ve learned is that if you have endurance and you make it through the season, you will be a lot better. For most people also it is not like they can become good over night. You have to keep trying. You can really take advantage of football because you have your very own football field just for you. Perseverance is a great trait to have and you can get it if you try hard. Just like everyone else, you will get your chance to shine. Some people notice their chance and take it, but some people don’t even see it if it spits on their shoes. Is this your chance? Take your chance wherever it may leave you and I promise you will find your way.

My friends and I are in Droon and so far our old enemy is helping us destroy this new ugly queen. I think he is using us. His name is Sparr. He has magical powers.So far we have only fought these goblins that that work for the queen who's name is Salamandra and my name is Eric. I do most the thinking and am kind of the leader. We've also met other creatures like a craken that lives in the lake around the city. Also a baker who make pies for goblins, but if we have one we change into a goblin and I know because it happened to one of my friends. But we fixed him. We've also met some nice people who helped like a magical man named Galen and he has many wonderful powers and he can fly. Also a boat man who takes us places and thats where we see the craken and fight it. It beat us at first then we beat it. We also met a half spider half man guy. He showed us many secrets. Threw this adventure I thought it was a dream until I got hurt, but at least we defeated salamandra and restored Droon. Now we are home in our world but can't rest because Sparr said our day will come before he left in a portal. This hole adventure was really wacky and fun and will be prepared for Sparr's return.

Dear diary,
People say being able to see the future is an amazing gift, but I say it's one of the worst things that's ever happened to me. I wish I never had my gift. My visions can be right, but most of the time they are wrong. They have caused nothing but problems and disappointment. I'm put down constantly and I am always made fun of because of my worthless gift. Everyday when I look at our family picture, I try not to cry. All the memories of my father and the day he died, come back. The morning of my first day of kindergarten, I was so excited to get going. When I was getting ready, I suddenly had a vision. I saw my father walk out the door heading for the car he'd parked across the street. I saw him step off the curb without looking both ways. A speeding car suddenly came up and hit my father, killing him. I desperately wanted to tell him about this frightening vision, but he was already out the door. I knew that all I had to say was "Wait, Daddy, I have something to tell you," but I didn't. As soon as he walked off the curb, the speeding car killed him, just as I saw in my vision. Everyday I think about, I always come to the conclusion that it was my fault my father died. I could have stopped it. After that accident, I have always hated my gift. My vision caused me to lose someone so important to me. This is why I never like using my gift to help anyone. I am so afraid to hurt them. To this day, I can't forgive myself.

OK Alexander, Whats first?
When the fake grenade was thrown into your room, why did you try to save everyone, why not run in cover?
Well, I don't know really, I felt as if I had to, it never occurred to me I might be killed. Luckily it was a dud.
Interesting. When you first heard about the many car thefts and the cars suddenly disappearing, what did u think?
I didn't know what to think, I got my hands on a map as soon as I could to figure it out, there were only two turnoffs I could imagine was how they were doing it.
So once you had your theory of their getaway what did u do?
I did what any good detective does, Start a stake-out.
How did this go?
Well we found out that even though the cars initially headed south they made U-turns and headed north.
Police could make a U-turn and pursue them still though.
Normally I would agree but they have a neat little trick to lure the cops away.
Please explain.
Well while the cars were headed south they drove into the woods, hid, and then played a simulated car crash. As well they had paint flakes on the ground. This made it appear as if the car had crashed backed up and continue driving and the police continued a dead lead. The car then headed north and off to a hide away.
Very smart. So who is doing all this?
We have yet to figure that out.

ReplyDeleteOne night my dad and I were standing on our porch, petting our dog, Sounder. I was six years old and I had three little brothers, not old enough to be standing in the cold, so the dont get sick at an early age. I was the oldest, so I would go and hunt withe my dad. I had a family of six, including my dog Sounder. Sounder was still a puppy and had the rest of his life ahead of him. Even though Sounder was so young he would still hunt with us to catch our dinner for the night. My family was African American slaves, and we had to give up 60% of our money we ern working. Sounder was such a good hunter that he erned a nick name, The Great Coon Dog. It means hes very good at hunting raccoons. This has been happening for over seven years, then one day, the white slave keeper came to pick up his money from us, and my dad dint have the proper amount of money to give up to our slave keeper. So he vilently attacked my dad and ended up taking him to prison. A few days went by, and our family was sufering. Sounder and I decited to go and bail him out of prison. we go walking for days now and we finaly reach the prison. Belive it or not, but it was realy easy to brake him out of prison. Two weeks went by, and then the slave keeper came to our house. He drew a gun to my dad and then after a long discution, he fired the gun and hit Sounder in the ear, and blew it rite off of his head. My family and I thought he was going to die, but he ended up liveing for a long time after. Then one warm spring day, Sounder sneaks his way off to under the house, were he died that day, in complete silence and piece.

Dear Joe,
I have heard of the mystery you are currently working on and would like to help you. I believe the stakeout missions you are doing are not as adequate. I believe if you hard Chet at the beginning and you further in on your motorcycles and have Chet call you when someone drives down the street. When he calls you you start following the car with your lights off. The car should not spot you and will lead you right to their hide out. Once you get to their hideout you should not just go in as you guys usually do. Whenever you do this you get caught and well that's never good. At minimum call the cops before you go in don't rely on a friend because they could get caught too, then what will happen. The criminals will most likely proudly kill you, for you and your brother are some of the most famed detectives and thieves would have no problem killing you. You should also board your windows up because too many people have almost killed you by throwing grenades through it. Other than that you boys are doing great, you guys are a great team.

Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Dear Diary,
Today, Ralph, Jack, and few of the hunters were talking about finding the beastie. I was curious why Jack was interested in it, because from the meeting, he sounded like he didn’t believe in the beast and he was calling the littleluns pathetic. I guess those littleluns saw something that had wings, teeth, and claws. They were very frightened when this “beastie” nearly touched them. Again, Jack made fun of my broken glasses. He says I have “one eye” because one of my lenses is broken and I can’t see clearly with the broken lenses. He is making fun of my broken glasses even though it’s not my fault and it was his fault. He is the one who decided to punch me in the stomach, and slap me across my face letting my glasses fall across the rocks and break. I really hate him and he always gets his little hunter group to go along with him. I cannot stand in front of them and yell at him because the littleluns are standing behind Jack, and I’m afraid that they will hate me too. And Jack just started calling me ‘fatty’ like Piggy wasn't bad enough. I’ve noticed something different about Ralph. He didn’t say anything when I got punched and he just sat there and stared at me. I was surprised when Simon picked up my specs. Simon doesn’t talk a lot but I think he might be the only good soul here. Before they left, I tried to give out my opinion about the beastie. Obviously my opinions aren’t taken into a consideration, and I know this because they always walk away from me.

The Sea of Monsters

Dear Diary,
We ran into Luke and his two henchmen aboard the Princess Andromeda. There we found out that the titan Kronos is regaining life little by little. He even tried to get Annabeth and me to come to his side, and to overthrow Mount Olympus. Obviously we sided against him, and he tried to kill us. So after that we fled to a refuge island where we were attacked by a Hydra. We were flung into the water and rescued by Clarisse in her old Civil War steamboat. After when we were rescued, we made our way to the cave of Polyphemus, to rescue Grover. Once we entered the gates to “The Sea of Monsters”, we shortly arrived at the cave of Polyphemus. While looking for Grover, we ran into some sheep. While we thought that they were just ordinary sheep, we were attacked by the sheep. While we were being attacked by sheep, we ran inside to grab Grover, got him, and ran back to safety. But we had gotten the fleece from the cave of Polyphemus. While escaping the ship was sunken. We had to go to an island to look for both safety and shelter. While we were on the island, we got some help from the centaurs there on the island. Because of the centaurs’ travel powers, Chiron and I were back at Camp Half Blood safely. Once we got back to camp, Annabeth and I entered into a chariot race. Before the race, Tyson gave me a watch that he made for me, and some weapons that he made for Annabeth and me. We won the race, and Tyson was invited by Poseidon to come visit him in his underwater palace. And Thalia’s tree was restored but it also brought Thalia herself back to life.

I have ended my quest and am writing this so I never forget it. After I met up with my fellow adventurers I gave them a good spook when I popped out in front of them using the ring I found in the cave. The ring is very useful to me, it is my only friend, it is my precious. After awhile of walking we had to hide from the wargs, giant wolves that could easily eat a hobbit. It looked like they were going to eat us but we were rescues by the eagles and Beorn, a person who can turn into a bear. We continued on our way when Gandalf suddenly decided to leave us! We were all upset but we pressed onward. The fat dwarves got caught in some giant spider webs so using the ring and my sword, which I had named sting; I had freed all the dwarves from the spiders. After even more painful walking we once again met a roadblock. We were captured by wood elves. We promptly escaped by riding down the river in barrels. We arrived at Lake Town which was conveniently not far from lonely mountain which is where the dragon was. I snuck into the dragons cave and tricked him into telling me his weakness. I took one of the golden cups from the treasure. That really made him mad so he came out of his cave and the archer, Bard, kills him. However in his rage before smaug the dragon died he burned down all of Lake Town. The dwarves and humans and elves were fighting over who would get the treasure. Then the goblins came and we all had to reunite to stop them. We were going to lose but just in time Gandalf showed up and finished them off. We all happily got home and I got a very fair share of the treasure making the richest Hobbit in Bag End.

Dear Diary,
My parents have just signed me up for a weird summer camp called School of Fear. They think I am claustrophobic. I refuse to go in rooms that are small, have a lock, or don’t have windows , but that does not mean have claustrophobia. Punchalowers are not scared of anything. Even if am, it’s only a little bit. But, anyway, it sounds suspicious. Who goes to school in the summer anyway. The fear part doesn’t sound too pretty either. I wonder if anyone else will be there. What if my room does not have windows. What if I get locked in and am trapped forever or until I starve. Ever sense I handcuffed myself to the railing in the museum when my teacher told me to get in the elevator my parents have thought I have a problem. I don’t see what the big deal is. Everyone has meltdowns once in a while, don’t they. I want to stay in Rhode Island with my friends, not go to some weird summer camp in Massachusetts with a bunch over scaredy-cats. My parents think this form of therapy will be better than the rest because it is so exclusive. My parents are all about money, popularity, and perfection. The only thing that they like more than being perfect is showing it off. So, as soon as little miss claustrophobic shows up (witch I have not confessed of being) she is out the door and of to a summer camp for wimps.

I like the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, J.K. Rowley, because in the book Hermione has a secret. Her secret is the thing that gets her to her tightly bunched up classes quicker. Her secret is an hourglass. She flips a switch and it brings her back in time. So Dumbledore sends Harry and Hermione on a task to save the prisoner of Azkaban. Dumbledore said,” If all goes well, you will be able to save more than one innocent life tonight. So they went back in time, and before they were told to not be seen by anyone. As they approach Azkaban, they had to fight and huge gang of dementors to save another life. This was Harry in the “future”. Another thing a liked about the book was that in the past two books and now this book, Ron had a pet rat named “Scabbers”. This rat, which everyone thinks is a rat, is actually a person in disguise. He was turned into a rat by Lord Voldemort, and sold as a pet to a boy. Now in the book, Sirious Black, the prisoner from Azkaban, found the rat and turned it into the person’s real form. They happened to be partners, so they ganged up on Harry. They chased him until midnight, and Black turned into a werewolf. He was cursed, and on every full moon he is turned into a werewolf. And Harry was saved by his teacher when he turned into a wolf.
The Children of Hurin happened long before the other Lord of the Ring stories. Back when Morgoth was the dark lord and Sauron was one of his puppets. When Treebeard was young and he ventured in the woods freely. The story follows the life of Turin known by many orcs as the Dragon Helm. As a boy his father went to war and never came back. Later when his fathers kingdom was falling apart he was secretly moved to doriath the city of the forest elves and was trained in the ways of elven combat. He later joined a group of woodsmen and rose quickly to the top. He raised a small army that the orcs greetly feared. His headquarters were stationed in a pity dwarf keep. The keep was later over taken by an onslaught of orcs. Turin was the only one to escape. Later delirious he stubled upon a city in the plains. When the people found him they asked him his name he said his name was master of doom. so one day his sister stubled into town delirious and brainwashed. eventualy they married (he had no idea it was his sister). later he was forced to once again bare arms this time he would go against a great enemy Gothmog the dragon pet of Morgoth. he slew Gothmog but many thought he to hade died. instead he was poisioned. his sister saddened with grief comited suicide. when Turin awoke the dragon Gothmog revealed to Turin that his wife was his sister. then Turin left and was dying from the poison so he died. later his elven mom found him and Hurin (turins dad who wasnt dead just held prisoner) found her and they died together.

In this book, the main character is Celeste Harris. Celeste is thirteen years old and is in eighth grade. She is an obese young girl that just started caring about her weight in junior high. At school a girl named Lively Carson is very popular and always annoys Celeste about her weight. All of Celeste's friends support her to not feel bad, but it never works. Her best friend, Sandra, turns on her by not hanging out with her and hanging out with Lively Carson. Celeste's mom and aunt feel bad for her so they secretly sign her up for a Miss Husky Peach Pageant for plus sized girls. Eventually she found out about it and was embarrassed even more because she had to go with the plus sized group. After that she had made a plan to go on a diet so she would be to skinny for the plus sized pageant. On of the boxes of food that helped her loose weight was a girl with in a red bathing suit that practically was her model to try to be like her. Celeste lost a lot of weight and was not obese anymore. She did not like being in all of the pageants but she still did some of them. Soon she wanted to quit, but her family wouldn’t stop annoying her about it. After the thousandth time that her family was trying to make her finish the challenge she finally did it. After she finished the Miss Husky Peach Pageant she was the second runner up and was awarded with a crown. Celeste was proud of her and thanked the girl in the red bathing suit that helped her go on a diet and loose weight.

Dear Diary,
Today, I was wondering why my dad treats me different from everyone else. He lets me do stuff that other parents don’t let there kids do. I also have way more pets then everyone I know. No one has a pet raccoon like me. I am luck thou how my dad lets me build stuff in the living room and have all of these wonderful pets. I have such fun times with them such as when rascal ate his first corn his face looked so funny. Rascal is starting to get riley wired thou but it is probably just a raccoon thing. Aunt Lillie is the nicest ever and she makes the best food. Uncle Fred is the best at stuffing animals. It is nice that they welcome me and rascal to there home. I am mad at hew ever cut down the tree I used to rest under it. So money people like that tree I don’t know hew would want to cut it down. I miss it but I will get over it. The thought of my dad letting me do stuff that other kids cant keeps going threw my head. I hope he is.

The Secret of the caves

This book is full of excitement, action, suspense, and friendship. The Hardy boys really come across different situation that could have been very dangerous like their car catching on fire due to a small bomb that was put in Chet’s metal detector. They had a prowler around where they were staying and they even had their boat catch on fire. The hardy boys had a hard time trying to locate the brilliant young professor, they had to have some of their buddies Chet Morton, with his new metal detector, and Biff Hooper help them with their detective work. The boys stopped at Palais Paris in Rockaway. When the Hardy boy’s left Palais Paris, they realized that they were not to far from Rockaway. The Hardy boys decided to camp on the beach with their friends Chet and Biff. The boy’s knew that there was mysterious stuff happening at Honeycomb Caves. They needed to find out everything that was going on in the caves. It seems that the closer they got to find the young professor, they came across danger.
The Hardy boy’s didn’t feel comfortable with the stuff that was happening in the cave that belonged to a Commander Wilson. The Hardy boys heard some mysterious shooting come from Commander Wilsons cave so the boys decided they wanted to spy on him. When they did they got caught and Commander Wilson stood at the entrance and yelled spies! And said that they were young pirates! Commander
Wilson was hard to deal with, he shot at Frank and hit him in the back. Joe was yelling and saying that Commander Wilson had killed his brother. The Hardy boys got away and noticed that Frank had been shot with flower. The Hardy boys mystery was that Commander Wilson was fraud, a cover up for some sort of gang receiving supplies and men by secret submarine at the Honeycomb Caves. I really enjoyed reading the Hardy Boys. I want to read more of their books and share them with my friends.

Throughout the book the topic is either about Ender winning, see if he is turning into peter or ender exceeding the I.F.’s expectations. The problem or the conflict that Ender always has to face is the fact of him turning into peter or more so finding a way to settle things with the buggars. Graff’s goal is to get ender the abilities to end the buggar race and save mankind. While he is doing that ender did never want to kill the buggars but to merely resolve it without hurting both sides of the war. Ender is the brother of valentine and peter but all have different personalities. Valentine is more of the nice sophisticated one and peter is the violent kid while oddly enough ender is the mix of them. Whenever ender kills an enemy in the games he thinks of himself as the equal of peter that he hated. Even at the school he felt as if he was a murderous peter. The expectations Graff has put on ender is great and to big for a young boy to handle saving mankind. Ender’s biggest mistake was the move to wipe out the buggar race that he regretted all his days. He had a constant urge to go home and when he did Valentine told him to go back. It showed that he belonged there but didn’t understand what was right to do. At the end when it was too late he regretted the mistake of killing the buggars so he became the speaker of the dead which spoke in the buggars place and help them was his life’s goal.

In the book Chicken Soup, it talks about teenagers and there life. It shows other teens what not to do. It can give people an example what your parents don’t want you to do. This book talks about this girl who sneaks out of her house to go to a party with a boy she likes. They go to a party and the people who are there tell him to do things he has never done before. He has no idea what is going on. His girlfriend was acting fine before he went to this party. They told him and his girlfriend to go in the closet for “7 minutes in heaven”. He gets really scared. He gets mad and scared, so he goes home after he gets out of the closet. The next day he decides to take a walk at the beach and he meets this other girl there… He thinks he’s in love already, even though he just met this girl. They hang out and they call each other “boyfriend and girlfriend”. They were happy after all that happened. She has a sister her name is Donna. She always would call her beautiful for a nickname. Her parents got scared when she went to high school because she would always attract the boys. Donna and her sister couldn’t really hang out with friends that much because there parents were very protective of them. These girls had crushes and inspirations throughout there life. There parents let them have a career which was helping kids in Canada. It was a foundation that helped kids dreams come true. That was how they lived there life. This book can really teach you a lesson. They are don’t go to parties with people you don’t know. Don’t talk to guys you don’t know. This book can be applied to peoples lives today and it can show young teens not to do things they aren’t supposed to.

The main problem in Mockingjay is when Katniss see’s her prep team getting abused for eating a loaf of bread. Another problem would be Peeta held hostage in the Capitol. Another problem in Mockingjay would be Katniss agreeing to be District 13 Mockingjay. Katniss gives a list of people, to President Coin, to grant these people a pardon to any damage they do in the rebel cause. These people are Peeta, Enobaria, Johanna, and Annie. President Coin agrees to what Katniss says. Another conflict she has with herself is whether to kill President Snow or not. In her mind a great thing to do is over throw the Capitol. In District 13 Katniss and Gale are a loud to go hunting, but not for survival anymore. Another problem would be in District 13 they have these wrist bands that tell what to do and where to do it. Everything has to be done on time and at the same place. District 13 is a very controlled District. You are being watched 24/7. There is no privacy in your life. The way they describe the place where Katniss, her mother, Gale, and Prim live it seems like a jail. There is no freedom and if u do something wrong you will be punished by getting whipped or being abused. This is not a district I would live in but there is an upside to it. You have more opportunity to be what you want to be and if you follow all the rules you won’t get hurt that much.

Before Miri and Marda were born their parents lives had begun together as betrothed. Their mother was a worker in the quarry for a long time. She had met her husband Lauren in the quarry one day working. The mother had thought about having kids before even getting married. She waited awhile until she was betrothed to Lauren. First, Marda was born and a few years later so was Miri. Once Miri was born the mother was very sick and didn’t want to put Miri down or let go of her little and delicate child. Miri was small, but after a few weeks had gone by the mother was very sick and still needed to work in the quarry to be able to feed her young ones. One day, when she was out in the quarry, picking up rubble, one of the ropes slipped and she didn’t hear the warning. The mother was crushed and fell off the side of the mountain. Lauren was crushed as well, but in the heart that his true love had died. Lauren was a widower and had Marda help raise Miri. When Miri started to grow, she started to ask where her mother was. One of her friend’s mother helped Miri by comforting her every time she felt lonely or sorrowful. Her friends name was Peter. Peter was a boy who worked in the quarry sometimes. Marda was either home helping prepare meals or she was in the quarry. Miri started to look like her mother and Lauren was afraid something might happen to her.

ReplyDeleteThe million Dollar throw is a book about a boy who has a chance of a life time to throw a ball through a target at a Patriot’s game. This is a chance of a lifetime for Nate so he should be excited but with all the stuff that Nate is going through right now it is probably very hard for him. Some of the things Nate is having to go through right now has to evolve with his dad because he just lost his job and is struggling to keep their job with the little money they are making. Nate starts to get a lot of pressure because if he doesn’t make this shot then his parents and him are going to have to move out. His best friend Abby is refusing to let him feel sorry for himself. They both help each other out with her having a hard time seeing with her new glasses and him having so much pressure. Eventually on the big day Nate gets a lot of support from everybody including all of the team members especially from Abby and his hero Tom Brady. After Abby and Tom go and talk to him Nate is sure that he is going to be able to do it. When Nate goes on the field he realizes something and that something is that Abby went through so much just for me. After he thought of that he was going to make it up to her by winning this pass and make it up to her by giving her some of the money.
