  2. #9 Edward Lueras the underneath by Kathi Appelt prompt #3 pg. 311
Years later Ranger, Sabine, and Puck are all still together and happy. The only problem is that since they live in a forest full of trees and their forest is right next to a highway. Tree cutters came to cut down the trees for paper. The 3 friends always had to watch out for a tree falling on them. Then they moved farther away from the tree cutters to the other side of the forest knowing that the tree cutters would just cut down that side too. The trip to the other side of the forest was brutal lasting nearly 2 weeks. They had to watch out for snakes, alligators, and pretty much everything else in the forest. When the finally make it they spend another week and a half finding a place with nice shelter and water and food nearby. Don't think that their life was easy though they had to decide who would hunt and who would watch out for tree cutters. They decided that they would have Ranger, being the strongest, hunt. Sabine and Puck, already full grown calico cats, would watch out for any sign of tree cutters. Then only a month later Sabine and Puck come saying"the tree cutters have come but only with sacks. We must not take any chances"Ranger says. So the 3 start running away from the cutters, but overhear one say"I hope the forest grows just as good as it was before.Yeah that was a real mess up cutting the wrong forest."Then the tree cutters planted hundreds and hundreds of trees and then after seeing the tree cutters leave Sabine, Ranger, and puck go back to their home hopefully being their home forever.

    Prompt #6
    Jayden: Hello Mia Hamm.
    Mia Hamm: Hello Jayden.
Jayden: What made you want to play soccer?
Mia Hamm: Well, I always looked up to my older brother Garrett and he played soccer, so I gave it a try.
Jayden: Why do you look up to Garrett?
Mia Hamm: He was adopted, and I followed him ever where he went. He was also very athletic and
always picked me to be on his team, whether it was soccer or football or any other sport.
Jayden: When you were younger, what team did you play for?
Mia Hamm: I played for my older brother’s team and was there lead scorer.
Jayden: Why did you play for a boys team?
Mia Hamm: Not to be mean, but boys are more competitive than girls.
Jayden: What about when you get older and boys are much faster and more physical?
Mia Hamm: Well around fourteen and fifteen, I had to start beating them tactically and technically.

Jayden: What made you such an amazing soccer player?
Mia Hamm: Well, I always played with older, bigger, and more skillful and experienced soccer players.
Jayden: Were you really good when you were young?
Mia Hamm: No, but early on coaches detected a fire in me and fed it by continually putting me against
    superior opponents.
Jayden: I heard when you play, sometimes you get crazy.
Mia Hamm: I admit, I do get a little crazy, but goals are so precious they must be celebrated.
Jayden: I read your book and it said that if your parents give you a hard time because you’re watching
soccer, to tell them that you said it is educational TV.
Mia Hamm: It is! Are they giving you a hard time?
Jayden: No, not at all. They actually encourage me to watch soccer.
    Mia Hamm: Oh, that’s great!
Jayden: What do you think is the most important skill you need in soccer?
Mia Hamm: Definitely trapping the ball. In every game you trap the ball in so many different angles and
    speeds.
Jayden: Is shooting all about technique?
Mia Hamm: Yes, technique is everything and you want to hit the ball hard but under control.
    Jayden: Nice talking to you!
    Mia Hamm: You too! By!
    Jayden: By!

    Mockingjay
    Collins
    Prompt#3
My name is Collins. I am the author of Mockingjay. Um... a lot of things happened to Katniss Everdeen after all these rough times. Well, after Katniss and Peeta got married they had many many kids. They had three to be exact. Their names were Prim, Gale, and James. Katniss named the girl Prim because that was her sisters’ name. But sadly Prim had died during the book by President Snow. He and Katniss were enemies. Snow later died laughing because of what Katniss did. She killed Coin instead of him. She meant to. Snow died because he had a very bad disease and he laughed and while he was laughing he must have choked on the blood splashing out of his mouth or because of the crowds running over him. Katniss had a wonderful life and home schooled their children. She taught them everything she knew. Katniss and Peeta taught them how to hunt when they grew older. They were excellent at it. They became as good as her. Gale, the child, became a strong and handsome young man. Prim was sweet and charming and was just like her mother. James on the other hand was very muscular and brave and courageous. He turned out to be just like his father, Peeta. The whole family loved hunting together and making challenges for themselves. Gale, the older one, sometimes came over and he visited so much the children started calling him “uncle”. The whole family loved visiting their mother or grandma. She worked at a hospital and took care of many people. They lived happily together.

I the address of where you are staying by asking Faith's parents. I know you really can't come home, but I wish you could. I love you very, very, much and want you to be safe. Now I have a little bit of bad news for you; there are guards in every corner of the city just waiting to find "The Lost Child." (You of course.) My piece of advice for you is not to flee, but hide. Don't be caught a second in day light, or else; well you know the consequences. Just so you know Pa misses you too, he and I both can't help ourselves but to wonder what has come of you. Please write back Darling, but don't let any of the Blessed Guardians, adults, or anyone see you. This letter must be kept a secret, the government will arrest us if they get any clues as to we are in contact with, "The Lost Child." Here are some other things that might be useful for you out in the real world all alone: be kind to anyone you come across, let no one know your real name, don't tell anyone unneeded information, and always remember your prayers. May the grace of the Seven Gods be on you my child.

    Prompt#1

    Dear Diary,
I have been feeling a little worried leaving my special ring with my nephew Frodo. I don’t know what’s causing me to feel like this but I think Frodo might lose it. I’m going to be away from home for about two months to go look for the Ring of Golem. I hope to be successful on my journey to find the Ring of Golem. I hope my dear Frodo takes great care of my ring. I’m very nervous about my ring because it was a gift from my great-great Grandpa. He got that for me when he went to fight the trolls in the land of Black Forest. I’m also very scared of what is to come because legend has it that there are enormous trolls and evil spirits in The Black Forest. I have never been there but my Grandpa told me to never go there because I might get hurt or even killed. I must cross the forest to get to Golem City where I may find the rare Ring. That is my goal, but it may put my whole life in danger when entering The Black Forest. If I don’t make it back, make sure whoever finds this let my nephew Frodo that I will be gone. Frodo, if you read this make sure to take care of the family, because they all will be trusting in you when I am gone. I hope to return to my family when I am through with finding the Ring of Golem on my journey.

    Sincerely,
    Bilbo

Dear Clarity, (If you don’t mind me calling you that) I have some advice for you but I don’t want you to take it in a mean way. I think that, even if she is mean to you, you should treat your mother better. I know you have probably already have heard people say this to you already but I just don’t want you behavior to get so bad that you will lose Molly. I know that you have a plan for when your mother tries to take Molly away. Your plan is to tell the judge that she has been the worst mother and has left you to go on vacations when you were young and could not take care of yourself. I think that you, CJ, should treat her better and not and not get in as many arguments and maybe she will be more lenient in letting you keep Molly. I really want you to be able to keep Molly because if your mom makes you get rid of her then she will not get to see Trent or Rocky anymore. If she does not see them anymore and doesn’t see you anymore she might be so sad she could die of depression. You would be depressed too and stop moving around to all of your friends houses because your mom will just be even more mad and there will be more of a chance that Molly will leave. Just try your best to have good behavior until you move out and that is if Gloria lets you move out.

    Dear Tedros,
I like that you stood up for Sophie but, really! Open your eyes, Ted. She was evil this whole time. Looks can be deceiving. You know how you said you hate girls that like you because where you came from and your looks? She was one of those girls. I am very proud of you because you realized Agatha, Sophie’s “friend” who you thought was a witch but who finally was seen as good (even though she was always good just ugly) through you.
I apologize for your loss. If only you opened your eyes faster! You didn’t know Agatha that well, yet you loved her. She was an amazing girl. She always stood up for what she believed was right. Sophie and Agatha’s deaths were a win lose situation. You lost the evil witch Sophie, but lost the one you loved, Agatha. I have some advice for you. Stay away from Beatrix. She doesn’t even love you. She just wants a good-looking boy like you, Tedros. You need help if you fall in love with her. I repeat, don’t fall in love with Beatrix.
You only have three more years then you’re off to start your own fairytale. If you follow my advice and be aware of others, you will do amazing things. You may even be able to become a great king like your dad, King Arthur. You never know what lies ahead of you. This can only happen if you try very hard.

Make sure when you are building the snowboard to escape from the mountain that you be very careful. You have a very good memory about all your gadgets and what they each did. I can’t believe you took your bulletproof ski jacket and your night vision goggles. That was brilliant. Remember if your still in danger make sure you press the fast forward three times on the CD player. Be safe and I wish you all the luck in the world. Good luck saving all of those kids trapped in Point Blank!
    Sincerely,
    Aide Martinez

Essay- I think District 12 was destroyed because of Katniss. Not only would the Capitol be angered because of her rebellion, but others would join in. The Capitol was probably very angry when Katniss blows up the arena. President Snow and the Gamemakers were probably even more angered by this.
So just like District 13, District 12 was blown to bits because of rebellion towards the Capitol.

Michael- Hello my name is Michael and welcome to the book show! Here joining me today is William Halloway.
William- It is a pleasure to be here today.
Michael- You have been through so much in the recent past. May you tell me about it?
William- Yes, it all started when me and my friend were playing. A man came up to us and asked if our parents were home.
Michael- What was he there to do?
William- he wanted to sell us a lightning rod.
    Michael- That's odd.
William- So anyways, he gave us one for free to put on top of my friend Jim's house.
Michael- nice, free rods those are cool.
William- He said there was going to be a big storm so he put it on my friend Jim's house because his house was dried out.
    Michael- Go on.
William- I sat and waited for the storm but it did not come. Later the next day it was about a week before holloween when I smelled cotton candy and popcorn.
Michael- Was there a carnival there?
William- No there was no carnival but the aroma that I smelt made it seem like one was close by.
Michael- that would be good, right?
William- That's what I thought, but carnivals usually come after holloween.
    Michael- That is odd.
William- I know. Anyways, at night I looked outside and saw tents getting set up. I saw the people there and I saw three people, Mr Cougar, Mr. Dark and The illustrated man!
Michael- Really, that must be an odd experience for you.
William- I know. In the morning, people were at this odd carnival. My teacher, Mrs. Foley, was there and went into the House of mirrors. She screamed, So me and my friend went in to get her. We got her out, But she claimed there was a little girl in there.
Michael- Who did you think it is?
William. It was her, but when she was a kid.
    Michael- Wow!
William- I know. The carnival was odd. Later that week, I saw Mr Cougar go back in time and become a kid. Later, we made him bgo forward in time and he became Mr. Electro.
Michael- Wow that's enough, this is creepy.
William- I know, well I have to go, but it was nice talking to you.
Michael- You too, bye and thank you coming here to share your story.
    William- My pleasure, bye.

    Allison: Hi Percy
    Percy: HI
Allison: Well since your last adventure a lot has happened
Percy: Yeah, we even lost some people that I even became close to
Allison: you must have seen it coming thought
Percy: Yeah everyone had to be careful because you never know if it’s about you until it happened
Allison: Oh and things really got emotional when Annabeth was taken
Percy: That was the hardest part I really just wanted to go on the mission to find her because I knew she was alive and with Luke being tortured
Allison: How did you know Annabeth was still alive?
Percy: I kept having these strange dreams about her and I saw everything and eventually they did happen
Allison: And all of these creatures you had to fight…
Percy: Or monsters, they were sent by the general to slow us down and pick at us one at a time
Allison: It must be really hard to deal with being a demi-god, half-blood, and huntress I mean what happened to Zoe was real tragic
Percy: Yeah and it was by her own father
Allison: was it awkward when they were talking about well killing you… in front of you
Percy: well I knew my dad would pull out for me and plus I only do good for the gods
Allison: and Bessie you must be very happy
Percy: well my dad is posiden and I wasn’t going to go without a fight he is the god of the sea after all
Allison: did you really believe that Annabeth would be picked as a huntress
Percy: I really did I was very shocked when she said Thalia but I know Thalia will be a great huntress
Allison: there must be something between you and Annabeth then… any feelings?
Percy: well I don’t know it’s hard because we are such good friends and I think I might just have to keep it like that.
Allison: Well that’s good but how about when she goes away again
Percy: I guess we just have to stay in contact
Allison: ok well that’s all we have for today, thanks Percy
    Percy: thanks for having me

    Dear Diary,
My life is falling apart. Recently I have lost my house and I had to leave my mom. My house was sold because we did not have a lot of money. Then I had to move to Denver with my Uncle Red. I had to move their with my three sisters, Mouse and India. My mom could not come with us because she could not teach in Denver yet. She had to get a license and she had to finish the school year. Then we took a plane to Denver and I was so depressed and sad that my mother could not come with us. Instead of taking us directly to Denver with my Uncle Red, we ended up in a city called Falling Bird. When we got there we rode on a weird pink and feathery taxi. Soon it took us to these mansions and for all three of us. Three different mansions for India, Mouse, and I. I went into my house and I saw a man who looked exactly like my dad, except he was not because my father died. He was so cool and he even played my favorite sport with me, basketball. When I left home I remembered my coach. He meant a lot to me and my “dad” knew that and he showed me a video of my coach and I when I won that basketball game. I asked my “dad” how he had that tape and how did he know that because I played that game a couple of months ago. He said he knew because of Sparky. Then I started getting curious, I wanted to meet this Sparky. So I asked my “dad” where Sparky was and he told me. So I found Sparky and I asked him what was going on. He said he would tell me if I gave him some of my time. I didn’t know what that meant but I agreed. He told me and then asked me if I wanted to work for him and I refused because it meant that I had to leave my sisters. So he got mad and pressed a red button and I fell into a hole of darkness and then I ended up in a different area in Falling Bird and I found out Mouse was there too. All Mouse and I were worried about was where was my sister India.

I survived The San Francisco Earthquake, 1906
    Lauren Tarshis
Page #88 (only 88 pages in book)
    Prompt #1
    Dear Diary,
I was at the corner of San Francisco selling my newspapers as usual. People handing me nickels for their morning paper. After I was done with my shift I started walking home. When I was walking in an alley these guys jumped me. I recognized them by their faces. It was Fletch Sikes and Wilkie Barnes, the most brutal thief’s in the neighborhood. In a deep groaning voice Fletch said hand it over. They wanted my gold nugget that grand pop gave me. I had only took it out for a quick glance, but I guess the noticed the gold when I took it out. I had no choice but to give him it. I knew I was beat but I still refused to give up the gold just like that. I gave up the fight until I ended up in the dumpster. Until a kid named Morris came. Morris always thought of me as a friend but I thought of him as an annoying kid. But this time he actually saved my life. He made Fletch and Wilkie scatter. I was actually happy to see Morris for once in my life. The gold nugget had been stolen. Morris and I were going to get it back. We searched for many places were Fletch and Wilkie hide out could be. Until we found an old like shack above a hill. When we walked in and say the criminals sleeping. We were searching on their desk for the gold nugget until they woke up. Wilkie looked like he was furious, and he woke Fletch up. They started questioning us and would threaten to beat us. Until the ground started to shake, the creaking wood floors broke. Fletch fell in and Wilkie helped him up. Morris whispered earthquake. We ran out as fast as we could, then another aftershock came. Fletch and Wilkie separated with each other and Morris and I went with each other. After the earthquakes had gone bye fires were starting. We were looking for a shelter that was strong enough to last the night. After we saw Wilkie covered with bricks, and before you new it we were throwing bricks off of Wilkie. Once we got him out he whispered were is Fletch. We told him we had no idea were he had gone. Wilkie clutched his fist and said in an angry voice, He left me. We had to go we told Wilkie the fires were getting bigger, and who could tell if there was going to be another aftershock. Wilkie lifted him self-up and said let’s go. We were running as fast as we could to get out of the fires, earthquakes, and aftershocks. When we were running we saw an alley. We couldn’t go through that, we could die. We were looking for more options. All the water hydrants had no water there was nothing to do. Until I remembered the Horses I had saw earlier, there had to be water were there was horses. Surly enough there was water and a blanket. Wilkie dipped himself in the water, and I grasped the blanket and soaked it in water. I told Wilkie I was going in. At first Wilkie tried to stop me, by saying there was barley enough water and that I would die. Once he saw I was going he said he had to go to. We ran through the alley all together and made it. Once we got to the end Morris fell in a hole. We tugged and tugged to get him out but he wouldn’t slip. Until Wilkie with all of his might pulled him out slowly and then he slipped right out. We ran until we saw a hole behind a trashcan. We ran through it and it lead to a bedroom that looked like someone’s house. We ran through the hole and saw stairs that looked like they could break in any aftershock. We slowly walked down them to see Fletch laying there with a sack that said flour on it, and it was filled with money. Wilkie was furious with Fletch.

Ranger's Apprentice, The Ruins of Gorlan
    by John Flanagan
    Log #1
    All Pages (1-242)

I love the way the author of the Ranger's Apprentice series, John Flanagan, leaves cliffhangers in the story. He will switch back and forth between the perspectives of multiple groups or individuals, leaving off on one suspenseful point to the other group usually at the ends of most chapters. Him doing so results in the reader becoming engrossed in the story, not wanting to walk away until they find out what happens to the group or individual. When they do find that out at the next chapter, however, the end of the previous chapter will have interested them more, so that even after the reader had been satisfied by what had happened to the first group, they are still longing to know what happened to the latter group or individual. This is not only a brilliant literary tool and gift, but also highly effective in economic situations. Since the reader is always wanting to know what is going to happen next, they read at a constant and quick rate. Once they finish the first book, they will continue on to the second and the third and so on, being very willing to pay the price, even if it is a little expensive. Another smart economic move on his part is his division of the story into multiple smaller books with prices that don't seem high, because it is just one book. If he had divided the whole story into two bigger, more expensive books, people wouldn't buy them as eagerly as if it was a smaller, cheaper book. With more smaller books he can gain more money from one person reading the whole series, and more people will read the series because they will be hooked on when they see the small, cheap book. This situation also appeals to someone who might not like the author's style, so instead of making a larger investment and taking a larger risk with a supposedly larger book, he can take only a small amount of dollar damage if he buys only the first book and finds he doesn't like it.

    Dear Tris Prior,
I know you have been going through a rough time so far. A lot has happened from the simulation attack on Candor to you and Tobias’s continuous fights. Just stay strong and be brave you can get through it. I have heard that you, the divergent, and other dauntless have moved back to dauntless headcounters. I still don’t understand why you gave up on being one of the leaders. You shouldn’t have gone what Tobias had told you and be a leader because you know a lot about the Erudite simulations. I have also heard about how you and Christina made up again. You guys where so close and its great seeing you guys being friends again. I know that when you came back to dauntless headquarters that bad memories have started to come back. I know that you miss Will and you killed him just to protect yourself. Just don’t worry and move on and you will get through it. I was also shocked to find out about another simulation attack at Dauntless headquarters. It was strange how the people that where infected from the last simulation were under mind control. It was also creepy how Hector, Marlene, and another boy where trying to jump of the roof. You were able to save Hector from jumping off but not Marlene. I know it kills you inside but you only had to choose one. Don’t worry about what Uriah says, he just depressed that Marlene died. Don’t feel like that you’re responsible for everything and don’t regret because all has been said and done. Also I wish you had listened to Tobias and never went to Erudite headquarters! Now you’re trapped in a room all alone. Jeanine is just going to experiment on you and when she’s done, she will kill you. You shouldn’t have sacrificed yourself for all the others even though you feel like you’re not important. There is one person that really does care for you and its Tobias. I just hope you stay alive and find your back to Dauntless headquarters. While you’re there, remember to make Jeanine pay for all she has done.
    From,

    Kyle: Hi Ryan.
    Ryan: Hello.
Kyle: So I heard your looking into the crossbones.
Ryan: Ya, it is actually quite interesting.
    Kyle: What do you mean?
Ryan: The crossbones were a very secretive group of three people. There is The Raven, The Apostle, and The Ghost of old Joe Bush.
    Kyle: Who are they?
Ryan: No one really knows who they are exactly and most people don’t even know about them; but I’m on the path to figure it out.
Kyle: Cool. What information do you have so far?
Ryan: Well, we have this map made by The Apostle. It keeps revealing certain pieces of information on different places, and at each place there is a film that gives us information on the crossbones. Lately, we have been finding viles of mysterious substances.
Kyle: Where have some of the locations been that you have found clues?
Ryan: Oh, we have found clues all over the U.S.
Kyle: Really! That is so cool. What is the coolest thing you have ever found?
Ryan: We actually found a stash of an enormous amount of gold, and a completely unknown library.
Kyle: Wow! That’s so cool! Keep me posted on what you find and let me know if you need any help with anything.
    Ryan: Ok, bye.

    The Magician
    Finished
    Blog #2
    Prompt #9
I love how Michael Scott keeps you interested. I love how there are two stories going on at the same time. His transition between the two people is awesome. After every chapter he changes stories. I like how he does that because that doesn’t make me want to put the book down. He wrote the book so that if it is a boring chapter, you finish it so that you can hear the rest of the other story. I also love how he incorporates truth into the fiction. Some of the characters or places that he mentions as magicians or magical places are real places or people who have lived. For example one of the characters John Dee was really a spy for the Queen of England. You could find a lot of the characters in the book as the real people by looking up their names on Google. I love but hate how there are so many cliff hangers. After every chapter it goes to what is happening in a different part of their world. It keeps me interested, but at the same time I have to do things and I just cannot put it down. I would defiantly recommend this series to my friends because it is a great series. It is an action filled book where wherever you stop reading you are on a cliffhanger. It is a great series and it turned out to be better than I expected. I will definitely make sure to recommend this series to all my friends and tell them not to underestimate the books even though it deals with magicians, alchemist and immortality.

The Book The Mocking Jay is the third and final book of The Hunger Games Trilogy. It leaves of where Catching Fire ended where Katniss escaped the Quarter Quell and was now in the war against the capitol. I can say that Suzan Collins did another excellent job pulling the reader in with interesting ideas and actions. The book keeps readers like me eager to read the next page not knowing what surprises will lay ahead. The book has many surprises especially at the end of each chapter that makes the reader want to read each next chapter. At the end of Catching Fire the reader was shocked and determined to read the next book so badly just because of one line. “Katniss, there is no more district 12.” There are some parts of the book, however, that are not as interesting as the rest, because it is just talking about their normal conditions in life or their daily troubles. I find these parts not too boring, because Collins adds a bit of humor or wonder in these sections of the book. The Mocking Jay is a great book, but to read it I suggest you read the first and second book of The Hunger Games Trilogy or else you will be lost. Also, they have made the first and second movie and I believe will soon make one for The Mocking Jay. This just shows how good the book is and proves that readers should get into the Trilogy and read The Mocking Jay.

Me: Hello Homer, how are you doing?
Homer: Good, a little sore from my adventures, but overall good.
Me: Is it OK if I ask you some questions?
    Homer: Of course! Ask away.
Me: OK. So how was the Museum?
Homer: It was OK. Stuffed animals aren’t really my thing, but my sister liked it.
Me: Good, good. Now, how close were you and Lorelei before she betrayed you?
Homer: We were really close, like I could tell her anything, but when I found out that she lied, my heart sunk. I did not want to believe it.
Me: I would not believe it either. Well, what happened after the events at the museum?
Homer: Um, after the museum my dad came and he got arrested and same as me sister. It was crazy!
Me: Also, Ajitabh took you to this tower thing. Can you describe that for me?
Homer: Sure! Well, it was really tall and if you looked down from the roof it looked like there was no bottom. The tower also had seventeen laboratories! Well, Ajiabth is an inventor so it makes sense.
Me: Aye, it dose. So tell me about Zelda. What is she like?
Homer: She’s really nice and kind and people think she’s a freak, but she’s not. She gives out excellent advice and can always make you feel better when you are sad.
Me: She sounds nice. How would you describe your uncle?
Homer: I love him. I don’t have a lot of friends so he's there when I need him. He’s a great explorer and is very courageous and brave and will probably die looking for treasure.
Me: He sounds like a good hearted man. Well that’s all the time we have for today so goodbye!

    Stranded
    Jeff Probst

    Dear Jane,
Stay calm, the best thing to do when you are stranded on an island or anywhere else, is to stay calm. I know it can be hard being the youngest child in the family. I am also the youngest child. Anyways, you must be terrified. Being trapped on an island with no adults and no way of communication for help; that must be one big nightmare. Being out at sea, to me, is already scary enough, but being shipwrecked on an island with no sign of any people is a whole other story. I don’ know if any advise I could possibly give you could help but it’s worth a shot. Try getting along with your new older siblings. Your whole trip was to get to try and get along and get to know your new siblings better so at least try and make an effort to do what the trip was meant o be for. Try and do all you can to show them that you are not the tiny useless child. Show them that you can do all of the things and even more that they cannot do. Take the big challenge instead of the little challenge. Don’t let them treat you any different than they treat each other. let them know that you can be trusted.try and prove to them that age is no how you judge some one; you judge them by their strength, capability, and brain power. Because you are younger, you have a larger imagination. Having an imagination could be very use full. Might just be a way to prove all of these things to them.
    Good luck,

    Suzanne Collins
    Prompt #2

    Dear Katniss,

I think you should move out of The state or district 12 because of all of the bad things that happen there like when you almost killed the camp director with the arrow and many other things that happened there. Also if you become friends with some of the other people you could win because you could be friends and you wouldn't die because they wouldn't kill you. I think you should also try training with the arrow by shooting it at a far distance, at a target. Try and do all of these by what i say and maybe you could have an easier chance at winning The Hunger Games.

    Dear Diary,
It’s me Risa. Right now I am stuck in this prison cell, I’m not exactly sure where I am or how I got here and most importantly, why I’m here. Today this lady named Roberta came and wanted me to get an Unwinds spine. I rejected it; I would never want an Unwinds part. The funny thing was that she wanted me to be healed, like her life depended on it. Later she brings in this weird person, I’m not even sure if he was real. He was a hideous monster and he scared and disgusted me. He seemed hurt after that but I don’t care about him. I’m still in this cell staring at the contract for my spine surgery. I will never sign it, even if they have to kill me. I miss Conner so much; he makes the world seem better. I don’t know if I will ever escape this place. I feel trapped not knowing what to do. I don’t even know why I’m so important to Roberta; maybe she wants something from me. I have been thinking of Levi lately, I wonder what is going on in his life. I’m really scared, I would never admit it though, but I need Conner, he would know what to do. This is my entire fault, why did I ever sacrifice myself for another kid? I would have felt horrible if I didn’t, he had fear in his eyes, he needed me and he trusted in me too. I have had a long day and I’m incredibly tired.
    Love, Risa

    Prompt 3
There once was a boy named Percy Jackson he lived in a boarding school in New York. He has dyslexia and A.D.H.D. One time they visit to the Rose Gardens. The most famous piece in the Rose Gardens is the beautiful river. This river is a big river and at the end is a fifty-foot drop to the beautiful Rose Pond. At the Rose Gardens he walks around sees the roses and the statues. Then the teacher calls out lunch time we all run toward the tables which where right next to the river. Today the river had a very strong current. Even though the river drops into the pond it is still the calmest place in the garden. All the kids in my grade are rich, stuck up, snooty, brats, that they get whatever they want. Except one her name was Jessica Ivory her parents weren’t rich or anything she was just a total brat the worst in my class, she was always mean to me and always tried to make my life the worst it can be. For some reason today she was being very mean and I got so angry I wanted to throw her as far as I could but I couldn’t do that to a girl and in that split second she was floating down the river uncontrollable screaming over and over again Percy pushed me and then the waterfall came all you could he was the screaming a girl then a big splash then the sound of angry tourists. Immediately after that they packed my bags and I was off to home. That was the sixth time I have been expelled this year. My mom was happy to see me but she was upset I was expelled again. Many years later I found out that those accidents all involved water and that was because I was a demi god and my father is the god of the sea and horses Poseidon.

    Dear Diary,
I am August. I have a weird face. I know I’m not like everybody else around me. I know I do not have a perfect face like everybody and I do know that I do not have a lot of friends like everyone in my new school. I just wonder why it was me that had to be different. Via, my older sister is quite gorgeous. Dad is hansom and of course mom is beautiful. Mom says God made me different because I’m special. I do not know what she means when she says that. Anyways, I’m kind of used to people staring and laughing me like I just killed someone because of my face but when people start laughing and staring, Via takes it personally and goes over to them and yells at them. Since my first day of fifth grade at a new school, some people have learned not to laugh and stare at me while some still have not. One of my friend’s Charlotte has been so sweet to me while Jack Will has not exactly be called sweet. Although throughout the whole school year, I have learned to appreciate my appearance because God made me this way to be different from everyone else.

    Dear Diary,
It’s me, Percy. Today was so crazy. I found out that Tyson, my best bud who’s a homeless child, was a Cyclops. I never noticed that he only had one eye because of the mist and the fact that I never look past his mouth. At school today, I was attacked by Laistrygonians (which are giant cannibals) that shot out bronze balls that were on fire. I was luckily helped by Annabeth and Tyson to defeat them. The three of us went straight to camp using the Gray Sisters’ Taxi. They told me some weird coordinates that were 30, 31, 75, and 12. When we reached the camp, everyone was fighting two bronze bulls. Since I almost died during the fight, Annabeth let Tyson in the camp borders so that he could save my life. Tyson couldn’t get past the borders because he was a monster. In the end, we all managed to defeat the bulls. Thank the gods! When I finally figured out that Thalia’s tree was dying, the whole bull fighting made sense. Since the tree was dying, the camp borders started to weaken. Right when I realized that Chiron was leaving, I was about to break out into tears. The reason that Chiron was leaving is because he was accused of poisoning Thalia’s tree for some odd reason. At the campfire as we ate dinner, Tyson was claimed to be Poseidon’s son. The green trident floated over him as it did to me, but he tried to swish it away. Now I feel so embarrassed. Why do I have to have Tyson as a half-brother that’s a monster? I love Tyson as a friend, but why my brother? Why dad, why him? I tried to reject every comment about Tyson being my brother, but no one would listen to me. It’s starting to get late and I need my sleep after this day. Bye!

Book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Dear Harry, it was awesome that you got to go to the Quidditch world cup. Even though Uncle Veron, Aunt Petunia, and Dudley are annoying to you, and they don't treat you with respect, just hang in there. People are bound to be kind to you eventually. Be careful at Hogwarts Harry there might be something going around I hear. Oh! I forgot something really important! Do you remember when you had that dream of Voldemort and that old man followed by your scar hurting? That dream is what was actually happening, Voldemort's planning to kill you, the scar hurting I have no idea. You have to tell Dumbledore about the dream and he'll really know what it means. You should probably tell Hermoine and Ron too, and tell Ron's father since hes in the Wizard Council he might know what to do. Harry you have to win the quidditch cup. Come on you have to study to get a good grade and get points for Gryffindor. Snape may be really mean to you and all, but don't worry he's actually caring to you. He's watching out for you. But Professor Lupin hes actually the bad guy. Whats underneath his wrap on his head I can't tell you because it's dangerous. All i can tell you is that Lupins evil and hes out to get you. Just like the phraise, "You cant judge a book by its cover". Anyways I have to go. See you soon, be careful, careful with your trust too. Later.

    Dear Diary,
Last night I was sitting in my room, the night before my first Olympic race, watching “Miracle.” While watching, I saw how the coach of the hockey team was mad while talking to the players. It reminded me of one of my practices in 2004. The practice was supposed to be easy but Coach Bob was pushing us and was upset because we weren’t going hard. We weren’t doing our sets very well so he made us go from eight sets of kicking to twenty-four. By the time I got out of the pool my legs felt like noodles. Now I realize that without a few days of hard work outs and spaghetti legs, I wouldn’t have been ready for my meets. Those hockey players needed someone to push them and I do too. I need to get my head in the game of winning. Today I woke up at seven am excited for the day. This morning I was relaxed and calm unlike other days where I am freaking out. I ate oatmeal for breakfast and stretched for an hour and a half. My first race in the Olympics was the 400-meter relay. Before the race I did everything that Coach Bob told me to do. I did some drills for thirty-five minutes and relaxed for an hour and a half. I put on my suit and did another ten minute warm up. I had the fastest time out of everyone in all the heats for that race. I am going to be swimming in the finals for the relay tomorrow. I am going for gold!

    Dear Diary,

You would not believe what I have seen. I moved into a house and decided to go meet the neighbors. When I got there I saw thorns, dead bushes, and thistles. In the middle of the garden, I saw a cage. In the cage there was four monkeys. I decided to look in the house. There was a hairy, beastly, disgusting lady and a hairy, moldy horrifying man. I decided to look for a bit longer. I saw the man drinking beer. As he was drinking the beer I saw him jump out of his chair. Then I looked on the floor to see a glass eyeball in his glass. After that I decided to go home and rest. Everyday I would go and see what the old hags were doing. One day the old lady had put worms in the man's spaghetti. The man decided he would get her back. He had a plan. He went to the basement every night and would take the old lady's walking stick and would add on a piece of wood that was thinner than a penny. After days of doing this, the women thought she has shrunk. The woman, in shock, thought she had a horrible disease. The man led her to believe she had the dreadful shrinks. The women knew what she had to do. She told the man to tie her ankles to an iron ring and her hands to hundreds of balloons so she would be stretched. She started to float away, and when she swung her walking stick at the balloons the pieces started to fly. She discovered she had not shrunk. Diary, have you ever met such crazy people?

And there was a plane . Many people in lower Manhattin heard it before they saw it the screaming roar of jet engines. The massive aircraft streaked through the sky barely skiming over rooftops.Up dowwn the sidewalks people froze. Lucas watched almost hypnotized as the plane careened through the sky. He'd never seen a plane fly so low. IT was so low he can read the letters on the plane. The next few hours were a blur. The guys swarming around him, Coach B. helping him off the field, the long wait at the emergancy room, Mom's and Dad's worried faces. But in the end Lucas was fine. He just had a concussion. That night Dad came into Lucas's room to check on him.

    "Feeling okay?" he asked.
    "Iam good,Dad,' lucas said.
He really felt much better. Monday came , the last day befor Lucas could be allowed back on the field. Dr. Barret brought lucas into an exam room and checked him over looking over. He asked him to walk across the room with on foot in front of the other. Lucas was sure he would pass the test. He past the test.

    An Interview with Kylie Carson…
Sarah: Kylie, why was Miss Valentine your favorite teacher?
Kylie: She was always nice to me and she always told me not to worry, everything will be okay.
Sarah: Why were you so mad when Miss Valentine gave you the part of a turnip in the class play?
Kylie: Because I didn’t think many people would know what a turnip was. When you look it up on the internet it doesn’t “turnup.”
Sarah: Ha ha, that is funny.
    Kylie: I could not resist.
Sarah: What is your favorite dessert?
Kylie: That is easy, Death by Chocolate Cake.
Sarah: Wow that is my favorite too. What made you choose the shyest girl in the class to be your baking partner?
Kylie: The reason I choose Lexi to be my partner, was because she did not have any friends and I thought she could use one.
Sarah: What about the other girls like, Sadie and Jenna? Did you consider them to be your partner?
Kylie: No, but after the first meeting, we discovered that together we could all bake and be friends.
Sarah: That sounds very encouraging. How did the baking turn out?
Kylie: Well, our first try did not go very well, Sadie accidently added too much sugar, she did read the recipe correctly.
Sarah: So, did you get better at baking as time went on?
Kylie: Yes, yes we sure did.
Sarah: Did you get any new recruits in your Baking club?
Kylie: No, sadly we did not but we have each other and we still like baking together.
Sarah: Have you tried all the recipes you listed in that first meeting?
Kylie: Yes, but some of them did not come out as great as we had planned.
Sarah: Well I am out of questions. I enjoyed our interview. Good luck on your future meetings.
